LocoMotief
2006, Event

LocoMotief ('LocoMotive') was to be a unique Dutch art event: for a period of two weeks every two years, all advertising space (billboards) on all Dutch railway stations was to be used to exhibit art.
Instead of displaying advertisements for mobile phones, package holidays and beer on the billboards in train stations, a number of young artists were to be invited to exhibit their work to a public of 1 million train travellers each day. By doing so, 300 Dutch railway stations would have temporarily become the largest exhibition space in the world.
What looked like an excellent idea stranded for financial reasons. The event would cost at least € 500.000,- and it proved impossible to find sufficient sponsoring.
